Conditions We Treat

At Atlanta Spine & Sport, we can diagnose and treat a wide array of acute and chronic conditions. Some of the issues we help address include:

Headaches

A headache a pain in the head or upper neck that often has no externally-obvious cause. Depending on the type of headache, it may feel dull, throbbing, stabbing, or skull-squeezing.

Treatments

Neck Pain

Neck pain is a discomfort in the neck region and is most often related to the cervical spine, the uppermost section of the backbone. Neck pain may feel achy or sharp. and, in some cases, may prevent a full range of motion.

Treatment

Back Pain

Back pain is generalized or localized pain in the upper, middle, or lower back. It generally involves the thoracic (middle back) and lumbar spine (lower back) as well as the muscles and other tissues in that area. Back pain may impact the ability to lift and move comfortably in addition to disrupting sleep and significantly impacting quality of life.

Treatments

Herniated Discs

A herniated disc involves a rupture of the soft, fluid-filled cushions that keep vertebrae (neck and backbones) from rubbing together and irritating the many nerves that travel through and from the spine. Misalignment of the spine can occur from poor posture, injury, work, or another cause. This misalignment puts disproportionate pressure on these soft cushions, leading to leaking of fluid.

Treatments

Tennis Elbow

Tennis Elbow is tendon inflammation, also called tendonitis, on the outside of the elbow that causes outer elbow pain and tenderness. Tendons connect muscle to bone and when overworked by repetitive motion or overextension, pain may occur.

Treatments

Golfer’s Elbow

Golfer’s Elbow is tendon inflammation that occurs on the inside of the elbow and may radiate into the forearm and even wrist.

Treatments

Carpal Tunnel

Carpal Tunnel is a hand condition characterized by pain, tingling, and numbness in the hand. It results from a compressed median nerve, a nerve that extends the length of your arm and must travel through the narrow bone structure in your wrist.

Treatments

Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain is aching or sharp pains in the shoulders, which may take place around the scapulas (shoulder blades), across the upper back or in and around the rotator cuffs, the ball and socket joints that allow your arm to move in a full range of motion.

Treatments

Knee Pain

Knee pain is grinding, aching, or sharp discomfort in the knee that may become worse during walking or prolonged sitting. While the pain occurs in the knee, it’s often the result of malalignments in the foot, ankle, and/or back.

Treatments

Runner’s Knee

Runner’s knee describes several conditions that cause pain in and around the patella (kneecap) and is also often the result of poor alignment of the patella with the femur (thigh bone) or tibia (lower leg bone)

Treatments

Foot Pain

When pain occurs in the feet, it is often the result of poor alignment in the back, ankle, knees, and/or foot that leads to too much pressure being placed on one part of your foot.

Treatments

Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar Fasciitis is a painful disorder of the connective tissues that support the arch of your foot. It can be the result of turning the foot too far in when walking, which is often caused by poor alignment throughout the ankle, knees, and back.

Treatments

Neuropathy

Neuropathy is painful damage to the nerves that you may experience as numbness or the “pins and needles” sensation. Poor circulation as well as compressed nerves can contribute to the onset and severity of this condition.

Treatments

Sciatica

Sciatica is a type of lower back pain caused by compression of the sciatic nerve that runs down the back and into the legs.

Treatments

Sports Injuries

Sports injuries are damage to the body that most often occurs when people are being active. While they may seem minor, when left untreated, they can lead to misalignments in the body. For example, if you injure a foot, you may favor that foot. So you step harder on the other one, creating an unnatural and potentially damaging way of walking. If not corrected, the other foot will also become painful, as well as the back, knees, and even the head. It’s all connected.

Treatments

Auto Accident Injuries

Auto accident injuries describe a whole host of conditions you could develop because of the jolting, crushing, compacting, and whiplash that can occur in a car accident. Both soft tissues and bone may be damaged and misalignments occur. Like sports injuries, if the misalignment is not corrected it can lead to chronic pain and loss of function.
